Michelle is from China.
Brian is from South Korea.
They both grow up in Vancouver Canada.
They met on a blind date on which Brian had his worst haircut of his whole life. He was so terrified that he almost decided not to go. But Michelle saw something beyond that bad haircut. She saw a loving and caring man who can make fun of himself. The evening passed like a second because of their connection and endless laughter.
Michelle made no mistakes. (The fact that she came alone on our first meeting and booked us on spot proves everything, right? ) Brian is magical and magnetic. He keeps everyone in his orbit happy and makes people around him just want to get even closer. And Brian’s love for Michelle is almost like spoiling a little girl.
Their wedding ran a little bit late like almost every wedding does. As much as he was worried about keeping the schedule, Brian insisted that Michelle get everything she wanted, no matter it was the traditional Chinese games and challenges, or a longer wedding portrait session. “It is her wedding day, so whatever makes her happy. ” More than once, I heard him saying to his groomsmen.
They tied their knot at Knox United Church in Vancouver. Families and friends were there to witness and celebrate with them. Afterwards, they headed downtown and had the reception at Vancouver Convention Centre. There, with epic views, great food, and friendly faces, we also heard the funniest speeches ever. But when Brian talked about how his father passed away, how he became the backbone for his mother and his sister, and how Michelle was always beside him, giving all the support he needed, tears were all over my face, and every guest’s as well.
Michelle and Brian’s first dance was also endearing to see. Brian did a few funny moves as always. But when she was in his arms, we could see in his fingers and knuckles how tightly he held her.
That night, on our way driving back home, Leon and I didn’t talk much. It felt like we were still at their wedding, immersed in their love and happiness. Michelle and Brian, it is such a privilege to be let into some of your most intimate moments. And thank you for giving us such a memorable Saturday evening.
